My time at Spellbound farm was a wonderful experience. I spent two weeks in this beautiful part of Maine, the rich experience of nature and spiritual discussion made me feel very much at home. Crissy was flexible with the work schedule and the projects that needed to be accomplished. I spent time mulching, stacking wood, building a wood shed, weeding, harvesting herbs, helping at a farmers market and moving manure. The entire space was magical and left me feeling uplifted. I had to cook most of my own food which was a little challenging without running water but I made it work and got into a routine with it over a the first few days. All in all this was a wonderful experience and provided me with opportunities to learn new skills and feel immersed within a small community of Maine. I hope to visit again in the future.
Spellbound farm is a really beautiful place. Chrissy made me feel at home and welcomed wwoofers to the farm with kindness and generosity. I stayed at the Tentrr site on the property, and my work was made up of planting, weeding, mulching, mowing, stacking wood and tending to the gardens and chickens. We were able to be fed primarily from what was growing on the land. The location is great: a swimming hole across the street, and close proximity to hiking trails, fishing, and the towns of Camden, Rockland, and Rockport. Chrissy is full of knowledge, and works hard to accommodate wwoofers and upkeep the magical land. I loved my stay at Spellbound.
I Wwoofed at Spellbound Farm for the month of May … and am so grateful for the wealth of experience I gained in a short period of time. This was my first Wwoofing experience and I found Chrissy very easy to talk to about all my questions and concerns, and also understanding when I found things challenging. She is easy to work with and flexible with the work schedule when need be, as long as the hours were covered. The tasks were varied between the gardening, animal care and herbal medicine business and I really enjoyed the diversity. She was also accomodating with my food requests when possible. The homestead itself is beautiful and also quiet (except for the chickens in the AM:) I truly enjoyed the work, the learning and my stay at Spellbound Farm.
Spellbound farm was delightful. Chrissy is a driven and passionate visionary. She was very hospitable and generous. Our housing arrangement worked very well for us and our dog. She has a plethora of knowledge and we enjoyed chatting with her during and outside of work. We helped with various projects that were assigned: planting seeds, chicken chores, cleaning the coop, decanting and bottling tinctures, and clearing brush. The agreed workload left us with plenty of opportunities to explore Maine. Spellbound is in a great location near many lakes and ponds, which was beautiful even in the winter. We highly recommend wwoofing here!
My stay at Spellbound Farm was brief by mutual agreement. I was only available a few day but I was able to make good progress doing some finish carpentry on the interior of the new sauna building, I also wired up a row of raspberries and a couple of other small misc tasks. I stayed in a large tent on a tent platform which I found very comfortable and every day I took a dip at the special swimming hole across the street. I enjoyed the evening meals prepared each night and the conversations on health and healing. I look forward to a return trip to help with infrastructure development and just regular farm tasks, Thank you Spellbound Farm for your magical offerings.
I had an incredible time visiting Chrissy at Spellbound! From the moment I arrive I was welcomed in and encouraged to make the space feel like home. I stayed above the barn and really enjoyed the roomy setup. There was something new to do every day including weeding, planting, mowing, chicken care, greenhouse work, organization, herbal tincture decanting, and spending so much time with Chrissy and the girls. Theres a swimming hole right across the street where we spent many afternoons. It’s about a 12 min drive to get to Camden or Rockland where you can find coffee shops, restaurants, ice cream, and great views.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Chrissy and her family! This was our first time wwoofing and we were not disappointed. It was wonderful to spend so much time working outdoors in such a beautiful area. Chrissy’s accomplishments are impressive and she was a wonderful host–great conversation, great food and very accommodating. We hope to be back!
My stay at Spellbound was an amazing time! Chrissy is super knowledgeable and always facilitates meaningful conversations. Brigid, Faryn, and Wren are full of joy and adventure and are awesome to have around (Chrissy’s kids) I stayed in the downstairs room and it was a lovely time, all the accommodations were great and my stay made for the best first WWOOFing experience I could ask for. My stay overlapped with one other WWOOFer and the work environment was really great. Expect to have some alone time while you’re there whether it’s during gardening tasks or in the evenings after dinner (nice to have a book or a couple things to do on hand). Prepare for black flies in the summer!! (bring some bug repellent/ wear light colored clothes)
Overall had a great experience during my stay at Spellbound. Chrissy was more than accommodating in terms of working hours/tasks and did a great job making the visit a memorable time. Spellbound is a beautiful farm in a gorgeous location with an abundance of outdoor activities, both on site and in the surrounding area. I enjoyed taking bike rides/hiking during my time off. Additionally, the nearby coastal towns are fun to explore during the weekend. Time of year was perfect for volunteering and made outdoor work quite pleasant. (2nd and 3rd week September). Mid 60s and low 70s was a welcome change from my Texas usual. During my stay the work consisted mainly of landscaping and log splitting in preparation for future farm developments. When given the chance I will definitely be back!
Christina is an amazing host! Our two week stay at Spellbound Farm was a very well rounded mix of efficiently planned and satisfying work, education and personal time off. The accomodations are wonderful, the food is top notch, and there’s never a shortage of interesting conversation. She really makes you feel at home, as does her family and friends. We just want to say thank you, and that we highly recommend Spellbound Farm. Best wishes in all your endeavors! Your friends, Antonio and Vicki
